Custom Sofas in Siridao: Bespoke Designs for Your Home

Rust from the inside is how sofas usually fail in Siridao. Salt air off the Zuari estuary gets at steel springs, staples and metal legs long before the fabric wears, so a sofa for this village wants well-seasoned timber in the frame, woven webbing where springs would be, and feet of wood or plastic. Cover it in a close synthetic cloth, or in fabric of outdoor grade, neither of which drinks in the damp; if leather is wanted it will need regular conditioning. Where an old house has a wooden settee or carved sofa with a sound frame, new webbing and a new cover are usually wiser than a new sofa. Keep seating off the outer walls.

• Front rooms of the fishing houses: the old wooden settee kept, with fresh webbing, new foam and a close synthetic cover.
• Compact rooms along the shore: a small made-to-size two-seater on wooden legs, high enough that air reaches the floor below it.
• Verandas and open sit-outs of slope villas: seating covered in fabric of outdoor grade, on a frame with no steel showing.
