Clean minimalist roll-up fabric. Rolls around a top barrel with side chain control.

Horizontal tilting wood slats. Stacks into a solid block at the top when pulled up.

Alternating sheer and solid fabric stripes for instant daylight and privacy control.

Soft drapery luxury blinds that pleat into deep cascading fabric folds when raised.

100mm vertical vanes rotating 180 degrees. Perfect for patio sliding glass doors.

Heavy 0.5mm clear PVC with stainless steel wind guide cables for rain protection.

Mounting position determines how much light enters your room, whether the blind sits inside the window sill, and if your window frame has enough casing depth. Review the visual comparison below:

The blind fits neatly inside the window casing. Ideal for clean architectural lines and modern interiors where window sills are kept clear for decor.
The blind mounts to the wall or architrave above the window opening, overlapping the wall on all 4 sides. Ideal for shallow windows and blackout bedrooms.
Window casings in Indian apartments and villas are rarely 100% square. Plaster thickness and settlement cause frame widths to vary by 5 mm to 20 mm across the height.
Measure tight inside the top where the metal bracket headrail will screw into the lintel or ceiling.
Measure midway down the frame. Walls often bow inward near window handles or locking latches.
Measure just above the window sill where the bottom weighted rail will rest when fully lowered.
Different blind mechanisms require specific operating clearances. When ordering "Recess Size", our factory applies the following precision engineering tolerances:
| Blind Type | Min. Depth | Width Deduction | Stack Height % | Key Mechanism Note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Roller Blinds | 6.5 cm | -10 mm total | ~8% (~8cm roll) | Fabric is ~32mm narrower than top bracket cassette. |
| Wooden Venetian (50mm) | 7.5 cm | -10 mm total | ~18% - 22% | Basswood slats stack thick when raised; keep drop clear. |
| Zebra / Day-Night Blinds | 7.0 cm | -10 mm total | ~10% (~9cm cassette) | Enclosed curved cassette protects double-layer sheer bands. |
| Roman Fabric Blinds | 5.0 cm | -10 mm total | ~20% - 25% | Fabric folds stack accordion-style at the top when pulled up. |
| Vertical Louver Blinds | 8.0 cm | -10 mm total | Stack to Side (~15%) | Requires 127mm or 89mm slat rotation depth inside casing. |
| Monsoon PVC Blinds | 8.0 cm | -15 mm total | ~10% | Clear 0.5mm PVC with stainless steel wind guide cables. |
Compare mechanisms, casing depth clearances, and real installed aesthetics across all 6 window blind designs:

Rolls around a slim top barrel. Minimum 6.5 cm flat depth needed. Raised stack is extremely compact (~8cm).

50mm basswood or faux wood slats tilting 180 degrees. Requires 7.5 cm flat recess depth. Stack is ~18% of drop.

Dual-layer striped fabric for instant transition between sheer daylight and total privacy. Needs 7.0 cm depth.

Soft curtain fabric gathered into horizontal cascading folds. Works in shallow 5.5 cm recesses. Stack is ~25%.

100mm fabric vanes rotating 180 degrees. Slides sideways along a track, ideal for patio sliding glass doors. Needs 8.0 cm depth.

Heavy 0.5mm clear Japanese PVC with 316 stainless steel wind cables. Mounted outside recess to seal verandas from rain.
Windows with cranks, tiles, sliding glass tracks, or deep cornices can be tricky. Our Goa team visits with laser measuring tools and full fabric swatch decks to take complete responsibility for your fit.
Inside Recess (Recess Size) means the blind hangs entirely inside the window frame casing, sitting flush with your wall for a sleek, contemporary appearance. Outside Recess (Exact / Face Mount) means the blind is mounted onto the wall or architrave above the window, overlapping the opening on all sides to eliminate light gaps and clear window handles.
Walls, window frames, and plastering in residential homes are almost never perfectly square. Measuring at the top, middle, and bottom reveals if the frame tapers inwards. For an Inside Recess mount, you must always use the NARROWEST width so the blind mechanism does not jam against the wall when operating.
No! Never deduct millimeters yourself. Always provide the exact, tight wall-to-wall measurements. Custom blind manufacturers automatically deduct 10 mm (approx. 5 mm on each side) to provide smooth operating clearance. If you deduct first and the factory deducts again, your blind will have unsightly gaps.
Minimum casing depth depends on the blind mechanism: Roller Blinds require at least 6.5 cm, Wooden Venetian (50mm slats) require 7.5 cm, Zebra / Day & Night blinds require 7.0 cm, and Roman Blinds need at least 5.0 cm. If your window frame is shallower than these numbers or has protruding handles, choose an Outside Recess mount.
On roller blinds, the top metal mounting brackets, side chain mechanism, and idler pin occupy approximately 32 mm (1.25 inches) of total width. The actual fabric roll will be roughly 16 mm narrower on each side than your bracket-to-bracket order size. For zero side light gaps in bedrooms, choose outside mount or cassette side channels.
