A legacy family in Fatorda owned a solid teakwood 3-seater Chesterfield sofa that had been passed down for two generations. While the internal wood frame was structurally sound, the original leather had cracked, the springs had sagged, and the foam had completely collapsed.
Chesterfield deep diamond buttoning is one of the most demanding upholstery arts. Simply slapping new fabric over old padding results in uneven folds and puckering. The sofa required a 100% internal teardown to bare timber.
In our Margao upholstery workshop, our master craftsmen stripped the piece down to its original hardwood frame. We reinforced the timber joints, installed high-tensile 9-gauge steel serpentine webbing, layered 40-density High Resilience (HR) contour foam with 200 GSM supersoft polyfill batting, and meticulously hand-pleated imported 450 GSM anti-stain royal sapphire velvet with genuine fabric-covered buttons.
The restored sofa looks and feels superior to brand-new showroom luxury pieces. The deep tufting provides lumbar support and royal grandeur that is now the centerpiece of the family's drawing room.
