Custom Sofas in Cavelossim: Bespoke Designs for Goa

Upholstery has two enemies in Cavelossim, rust and must, and a sofa should be specified against both. Against rust from the beach side: a seasoned hardwood frame, webbing suspension instead of steel springs, and timber or plastic feet. Against the mustiness that comes with living beside the Sal: raised legs, a little distance from outside walls, and covers that unzip and wash. Tightly woven synthetics and outdoor-grade fabrics dry quickest. For resorts and holiday apartments add firm foam and a spare set of covers, and consider a sofa bed where a flat sleeps a family. Worn hotel sofas with good frames can be reupholstered in place of buying new.

• Resort lounges and lobbies: hardwood-framed sofas in outdoor-grade fabric, with zip-off covers and a second set in reserve.
• Holiday apartments: a compact sofa bed in a tight synthetic weave, raised on legs so the floor beneath can dry.
• Village houses on the river side: existing sofas re-webbed and re-covered in washable fabric, moved clear of damp outer walls.
