On a strip of land with the Sal on one side and the sea on the other, nothing in Cavelossim ever quite dries out, and curtains are chosen for that. Polyester and polyester blends are the working fabrics: they shed damp quickly, wash in a machine and do not stiffen with salt as cotton does. Hardware must be rust-proof, which means aluminium tracks, nylon gliders and stainless screws. For resort and hotel bedrooms, fit the blackout as a separate lining that unhooks, so the face curtain can be laundered without it. Keep hems a hand clear of windows left open on the beach side. Village houses by the river want lighter, unlined curtains still.
Cavelossim lies on the narrow strip of land between the Sal river and the sea, south of Varca. The village has a white-sand beach, several large resorts, a river frontage with fishing boats, and a main street of shops and restaurants serving visitors.
Property here is dominated by resorts, hotels and holiday apartments, with village houses along the river side. Hospitality work is the larger share: guest-room curtains, restaurant blinds, and outdoor seating.
