Custom Blinds in Cavelossim

Cavelossim's restaurants do much of their business on open terraces, and a blind there is a piece of weather gear. Clear PVC monsoon blinds on the windward side keep rain off the tables without shutting out the view of the river or the street, and roll up when the day is fine. Indoors, the year-round humidity rules out real wood and untreated bamboo, and salt from the beach rules out steel: every blind should have an aluminium head rail and a plastic or stainless chain. Coated polyester rollers wipe clean and resist mildew. In hotel bedrooms, choose blackout rollers on rust-proof brackets, which are replaced one at a time when a guest breaks one.

• Restaurants on the main street: clear PVC blinds along the open side, rolled up on dry days and wiped down often.
• Resort bedrooms facing the sea: blackout rollers with aluminium rails and stainless brackets, in a coated fabric that does not hold salt.
• Houses on the river frontage: PVC-coated sunscreen rollers that resist mildew and soften the glare coming off the water.
