Custom Sofas for Sangolda.

Antique furniture is part of Sangolda's character: it is sold along the main road and it sits in the old family houses behind. A carved rosewood or teak sofa is worth restoring more than once. New webbing, padding and fabric go on, and the frame and carving are left exactly as they are. For the newer villas, a sofa made to order can be drawn to the room, in whatever length the wall allows, and matched to curtains and rugs chosen with it. The inland air is dry enough for cotton and linen blends. In a room without air conditioning a woven fabric is cooler to sit on than leatherette, which turns sticky in the heat.

• Antique settees and chairs: fresh webbing, foam and a cotton or linen-blend cover, with the old wooden frame and its carving left untouched.
• Villa living rooms: a made-to-size sectional or a facing pair, set out on the floor plan before any fabric is ordered.
• Verandas and sit-outs under the trees: a bench or sofa in outdoor-grade fabric, which brushes clean of leaves and dust.
