Custom Sofas in Siolim: Bespoke Designs for Your Home

Furniture in Siolim lives in damp air for half the year, and a sofa should be chosen with that in mind. Lift it on legs so air moves underneath, stand it a hand's width off an outside wall, and insist on covers that come off for washing, because foam and fabric left against an old wall turn musty. In the Indo-Portuguese houses the best sofa may be the one already there: a carved settee whose frame only needs new webbing, foam and cloth. The villas by the river take bigger pieces, a sectional or two sofas facing, in a performance weave where the room opens to a pool or garden. Guest stays should keep spare covers.

• Front halls of old houses: the original carved settees restored, with loose cushions in a washable cotton-polyester weave.
• Villa living rooms open to the garden: a raised-leg sectional in fade-resistant performance fabric, worked out on the floor plan.
• Balcões and courtyard seating: bench cushions covered in an outdoor-grade cloth that copes with mist and monsoon damp.
