A blind can be fitted within the reveal, which also shelters it from the wind that crosses this higher ground. The air is drier than down by the river, so wooden venetians and bamboo blinds, which suffer in damp, are a fair choice in a study or dining room. For rooms that take the afternoon sun, a blackout roller or zebra blind stops heat as well as light. In plot houses with long runs of glazing, a row of two or three blinds, meeting on the mullions, works better than one very wide one.
