A roman blind is a single panel of fabric with rods stitched across the back. Pull the cord and the panel gathers upward into neat horizontal folds; let it down and it lies flat against the window. Because it is made from curtain fabric, it can match your sofa, cushions or curtains exactly.
Roman blinds suit windows where a full curtain would be in the way: above a bed or a desk, beside a wardrobe, in a bay, or on a window that sits close to a corner. Every blind is made to the size of your window.

Yes. A blackout lining is stitched behind the face fabric, so the blind keeps its look from inside the room and blocks light from outside. This is the usual choice for bedrooms.
A roller blind is a flat sheet that winds onto a tube. A roman blind is made from curtain fabric and gathers into folds as it rises. Roman blinds look softer and more decorative; roller blinds cost less and suit damp rooms.
Vacuum them in place with a soft brush about once a month. Cotton and polyester blinds can be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth. Silk, velvet and lined blinds should be dry-cleaned.
