Custom Sofas in Reis Magos: Bespoke Designs & Local Expertise

Sun is what wears out a sofa on the Reis Magos hillside. Living rooms are arranged around the south-facing window and its view of the river, so the seating stands in strong light for hours, and ordinary dyed cloth fades along the back and arms first. A solution-dyed or fade-resistant fabric is worth choosing for any piece near that glass. The humidity adds its own demands: covers that zip off, and legs that lift the base clear of the floor so air moves under it. In the old houses lower down, a carved hardwood settee is better reupholstered than replaced. For a big villa room, settle the layout on a plan before the sofa is made.

• Villa lounges facing Panjim: a sectional in a fade-resistant weave, set back from the glass far enough to walk behind.
• Covered terraces looking over the river mouth: an outdoor-grade fabric sofa on a hardwood frame, since the breeze carries moisture in.
• Old riverside houses: existing wooden frames given fresh webbing, foam and a washable cover in place of a new sofa.
