Custom Blinds in Pilerne, Goa

Many windows in Pilerne light a desk, not a bed. Offices and small factories in the industrial estate want glare off the screens and a surface that can be cleaned quickly, and that points to roller blinds in sunscreen fabric or to verticals, both of which wipe down. Slatted venetians gather the estate's dust on every slat. The plateau is windy, so a blind hung at a window that opens should sit inside the recess with a weighted bottom rail, or it will knock against the frame all afternoon. In the flats built for people who work here, blackout rollers let shift workers sleep after sunrise.

• Offices in the industrial estate: sunscreen rollers or vertical blinds, which cut glare on screens and wipe clean of dust.
• Bedrooms in the apartment complexes: blackout rollers inside the recess, with a weighted bottom rail so wind cannot swing them.
• Village homes by the lake: polyester or PVC-coated roller fabric, which resists the mildew that humid air encourages.
