Custom Sofas for Nerul, Goa Homes

Damp reaches a sofa in a riverside room in Nerul from underneath and from behind. Choose a design raised on legs, so air moves under the seat, and stand it clear of any outside wall. Covers that unzip and wash matter more here than any particular fabric, because foam and cloth turn musty in a house shut for months, as second homes are. The glazed living rooms of the villas open straight onto decks and pools, and people come in wet; for those rooms an outdoor-grade or performance fabric saves the upholstery. Salt is moderate, so a hardwood frame with rust-proofed fittings is enough. Old houses near the church often have a wooden sofa worth re-covering.

• Waterfront living rooms: a legged sofa with washable loose covers in a synthetic weave, set clear of the river-facing wall.
• Rooms opening onto a pool deck: a sectional in outdoor-grade fabric, placed on plan so the glazed doors still slide.
• Old family houses by the church: the existing wooden sofa restored, with fresh webbing, foam and fabric on the old frame.
