Because Fatrade's villas and flats are handed over bare, the headboard can be planned with the wiring instead of fitted around it. In a large villa bedroom that means a wide or full-wall board with reading lights and sockets built in, their positions fixed with the electrician while walls are still open. Holiday use sets the material. A house closed for weeks in sea air should not have thick fabric padding hard against a seaward wall; mount the board with a small gap, seal its backing, and choose leatherette or a synthetic weave. For apartments let to guests, a plain wipe-clean panel is easier to keep presentable and to re-cover.
Fatrade is a ward of Varca with its own stretch of beach, between Varca and Carmona. It is a quiet area of resorts set in large grounds, new villa developments and holiday apartments, with paddy fields between the road and the sea.
Building here is recent: gated villa clusters and apartment complexes, many sold to buyers from outside Goa as holiday homes. They are handed over unfurnished and need everything from curtain tracks to mosquito nets.
The land is flat and open to the sea breeze. Salt reaches the villas nearest the beach, and the fields hold water through the monsoon, which brings mosquitoes.
Fix a headboard a little off a sea-facing wall so air can move behind it, and choose a synthetic or leatherette cover that does not hold damp. Wooden backing boards should be sealed on both sides.
Large bedrooms take wide or full-wall headboards with integrated lights and sockets. Agree the positions with the electrician before the panel is made.
