Between Calangute and Fort Aguada, Candolim's property divides into the salty, breezy strip by the beach and the green, humid lanes behind the main road, and blinds need different care in each. Near the sand, rust is the risk: rails in aluminium, chains in plastic or stainless steel, and PVC or faux-wood slats where timber would warp. In the lanes, mildew is the risk, and PVC-coated or polyester sunscreen rollers that wipe with a damp cloth are the safe pick. Villas with wide glazing may want several blinds on one remote. Guests are hard on blinds. Choose chain-operated rollers with metal brackets over delicate slatted blinds, in a blackout fabric for bedrooms. A single damaged roller is quick to replace between bookings.
